Execution period: January 2023 – December 2025

The TrustChain project – Fostering a Human-Centred, Trustworthy and Sustainable Internet – in which Alastria also participates, is funded by the Horizon Europe programme as part of the Next Generation Internet (NGI) initiative.

Objective

TrustChain aims to create a portfolio of next-generation internet protocols and an ecosystem of decentralised software solutions designed to promote the highest human values, including respect for human rights, ethics, sustainability, energy efficiency, environmental protection and the preservation of cultural heritage worldwide.

The TrustChain project will support top internet innovators with €8.8 million distributed across five open calls focused on:

  1. Decentralised digital identity
  2. User privacy and data governance
  3. Economy and democracy
  4. Multichain support for NGI protocols
  5. Green, scalable and sustainable DLTs

Alastria’s participation

In addition to Alastria, the consortium includes European Dynamics, F6S, the University of Ljubljana, Fundación Cibervoluntarios, Timelex, STEcon Group, the University of London and the University of Athens.

To support TrustChain’s dissemination, Alastria has presented the project at several key events such as the European Blockchain Convention (Barcelona), the Digital Enterprise Show (Málaga), the Disruptive platform (webinar), the Basque Development Agency SPRI, the NGI Forum 2023 (Brussels), as well as through regular publications on its digital channels to share project progress and promote the different open calls.
